On Sunday,September 26, 2010 was one of the most, joyous occasions for the Franklin United Methodist Church Congregation. We give All Praises TO God for allowing us to celebrate 145 years of Praise and Worship as a congregation of people. The Records and History Ministry decided to embark on something a little different to celebrate this year's Anniversary. It was decided the Ministry would sponsor Pre-Anniversary Services beginning on Sunday ,September 19,2010 and continuing through the Anniversary Sunday on the 26th.We chose to invite all of our former pastors to share in the celebration and have the entire Church Family join in the memorable occasion. We included the structures of ''The Five Practices of a Fruitful Congregation'',thus all Ministiries of the church would have representation. The idea was presented in the Church Council and adopted.
All of the former pastor's were contacted and they readily and happily accepted the invitation to be included in this special occasion. We chose as our theme for this fiscal year,October 1, 2009 to September 26, 2010, ''Celebrating Our Journey,145 Years of Lifting Up The Name of Jesus,Through Prayer,Praise and Worship.'' Our theme was based on 1Chronicles 16:6-15.
It was our prayer that the church would appreciate how blessed we are that God had allowed us to worship together for these 145 years.''To God Be The Glory''.
We jubilantly and thankfully began the celebration on Sunday,September 19th, 10:30a.m.with our pastor Rev.Dr.Eugene W.Matthews delivering the morning message.Participating also was one former pastor,Rev.Dr.George Stansbury, who gave the prayer and greetings.
